Fire Destroys Route 66 Landmark - Rock Cafe

It is sad to hear of the news that the Rock Cafe, located in Stroud, Oklahoma, has been destroyed by a fire. I had visited there last October and was hosted by proprietor Dawn Welch.

I thought you might like to know that the Rock Cafe is being restored! The goal is to have it reopen in May, one year after the fire. If you’d like to see the progress on the Rock Cafe, go to davidshistoricpreservation.com and click on Rock Cafe on Rt. 66. And check back when the date for the grand opening is set. We expect to see you there!

Wouldn’t it be cool if this was the inspiration for CARS 2!!
Sally’s Motel in Radiator Springs would be the setting. Just a thought. Someone contact Disney!!
